Use of NAMs in risk assessment webinar series started
Posted on 2018-11-19A new webinar series on the use of new approach methodologies (NAMs) in risk assessment is being organized by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the PETA International Science Consortium Ltd. The first webinar in this series was presented on November 7 and can be viewed at https://www.piscltd.org.uk/nam-webinars/. The next webinar in the series is planned for January 2019, and details of the webinar will be posted on the PISC webpage.
The November 7 webinar focused on the two testing strategies included in EPA’s “Policy on the Use of Alternative Approaches for Skin Sensitization Testing” (available at https://www.epa.gov/pesticides/epa-releases-draft-policy-reduce-animal-testing-skin-sensitization). Susanne Kolle described BASF’s “2 out of 3 approach” and Taku Nishijou discussed Kao Corporation’s sequential testing strategy for in vitro skin sensitization testing.
