There is no official information on the amount of money allocated each year to animal experimentation in Germany. The German society Ärzte gegen Tierversuche (Doctors Against Animal Experiments Germany) has compiled a list of available information on money allocated to building animal testing facilities or projects involving animal experimentation during the past years in Germany.
Only considering projects reported in the list and completed by the end of 2017, more than €100 million has been spent per year in Germany since 2001 on animal experimentation. In comparison, regular support of 3Rs related research in Germany amounts to €5.75; support of specific, fixed-term projects amounts to another €5.73 million.
