On November 21 the Swedish 3R Center was officially opened. Based in Jönköping at the offices of the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket), the Center has a staff of 8 and has been promised funds of 15 millioner kroner annually for the next three years. This money comes in addition to the 13-14 millioner kroner which are already spent annually in Sweden to finance 3R research and development. The Swedish National Committee for the protection of animals used for scientific purposes serves as a Steering Committee for the Center.
